Engagement

Engagement and Retention Features

Small product mechanics that bring members back.

Community retention is not built by one big feature. It comes from replies, notifications, mentions, reactions, subscriptions, profiles, and publishing rhythms that make participation feel natural.

01 Reply sort & watchers

Newest-first for members, oldest-first for guests, with thread subscriptions and unread indicators.

02 Best reply

One marked best top-level reply per thread, with in-app notifications, email notifications, and activity feed copy.

03 Reply likes

Thumb-and-count chip on every reply, with batched lookups and confetti animation when a like is added.

04 Mentions

Multi-token search, instant-open suggestions, thread-participant ranking, and automatic exclusion of banned or spam-flagged users.

05 Reactions on posts

Lightweight appreciation across posts and replies, with viewer-state batching for speed.

06 Member profiles

Rich profiles with display name, @username, role badges, bio, message action, and contribution history.

07 Activity feed

Posts, replies, best-reply events, reactions, and joins render with deep-link copy.

08 Scheduled publishing

Articles, blogs, news, announcements, quizzes, changelogs, and discussions can be scheduled in the community timezone.

A watercolour scene representing moderation, reporting, and trust.

Moderation & Trust

Moderation, Reporting and Trust

Governance tools for healthier community conversations.

Active communities need more than a delete button. Jatra gives moderators the tools to review reports, remove harmful content, protect trusted roles, and keep conversations safe without slowing the community down.

01 Report flow

Members can report content with five reason types and an optional note; reports flow to a moderator queue with full context.

02 Take-action modal

Moderators can remove single content, remove all content by a user, or permanently ban with email and IP block defaults on.

03 Privileged-role protection

Owners, admins, and moderators are non-bannable; ban enforcement runs at access-check time.

04 Reported queue

Reports appear under Posts → Reported with view-context, mark-reviewed action, and queue marker dots.

05 Mod notifications

Mods, admins, and owners get in-app and queued email notifications with a single batched preference lookup.

06 Redirect safety

Post-moderation redirects fall back to the community feed instead of sending users to dead post URLs.

07 Spam-safe mentions

Banned and spam-flagged users disappear from mention suggestions automatically.

08 Audit trail

Every moderation action is logged, including ban metadata and policy enforcement.

05 Appearance modes

Light, dark, and system per community; new communities default to light unless overridden.

06 Performance guardrails

Cache-keyed feeds, cursor-pagination stability, and channel-settings scale guardrails ship by default.

07 Operational ops commands

Activate and deactivate workflows rebuild sitemaps and purge stale state on demand.

A note from the editor

Features only matter if they compound.

Most community platforms ship a long checklist. Jatra ships a connected system. Discovery brings new people in. Content gives them useful paths to explore. Engagement brings them back. Analytics shows what is working. Moderation keeps the space healthy. The platform underneath keeps it all on your domain, so every useful interaction strengthens the next one.

Field notes

Common questions about Jatra’s feature set.

Short answers below. Every chapter above has a deep-link share URL if you need the detailed version.

Q.
What is the difference between SEO and AEO in Jatra?
A.
SEO helps your community pages get discovered through search engines like Google. AEO, or answer-engine optimisation, helps your content become easier for AI search tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini to understand and cite. Jatra supports both with structured data, sitemap entries, clean page templates, and answer-friendly community content.
Q.
Are these features all shipped today?
A.
Yes. Every capability listed on this page is either in the current product or part of the actively maintained platform. Future backlog items such as rooms, events, courses, enterprise SSO, and roadmap automation are intentionally not listed here.
Q.
Can I link directly to a feature group from external pages?
A.
Yes. Every group is anchor-linkable — for example /features#analytics or /features#privacy-access. Anchors stay stable and are emitted in the page schema so they are crawlable as named subsections.
Q.
Do I need plugins or extensions to get the SEO benefits?
A.
No. Sitemaps, structured data, OG fallback images, breadcrumb JSON-LD, canonical policy, and noindex rules ship as part of the core product. There is nothing to install or configure for the default SEO setup.
Q.
How does Jatra handle private content and search?
A.
Private channel posts never appear in public sitemaps or public search results. Meilisearch filters results at query time by community, channel access, and publish state, so visibility rules are enforced before results render.
Q.
Can I run multiple post types in one community?
A.
Yes. That is the point of Jatra’s multi-content engine. A single community can mix discussions, articles, news, changelogs, feedback, quizzes, announcements, and jobs, each with its own composer, schema, and display pattern.
Q.
What does the analytics surface actually show?
A.
Six tabs: Overview, Growth, Engagement, Content, Channels, and Members. Operators can inspect health KPIs, daily trends, returning activity, post-type distribution, channel activity, top content, role distribution, and member activity with preset, all-time, or custom ranges.
Q.
Is data exportable?
A.
Members can be exported to CSV from the filtered member directory. Stale member exports are removed by a scheduled cleanup job. The platform follows an ownership-first stance: your community, your members, your data.
